e-TALENTA Greece now online! Interview with Casting Director Lydia Georgana

Europe’s casting platform e-TALENTA has recently been launched in Greek (and is now available in 20 languages!).
Lydia Georgana – casting director, acting coach and director – played a key role in the Greek version of the platform.
In this interview, she explains why the project is so important to her and what makes Greek actors so interesting.

Interview:

Dear Lydia, you played a crucial role in translating e-TALENTA into Greek. Thank you very much for this and your extraordinary passionate drive!

I thought it would be easier, hahah, and it was very important to have a proper translation for me and for all the actors.

The Greek language has its own terminology in showbusiness.

Tell us something about yourself. You are a casting director and coach for actors, right?

I have been working as a casting director for more than 20 years and i am an actor’s coach 17 years already. First of all I think of myself as a director and a script writer, but I am also a mother and a huge heavy metal fan.

And that is not a joke! Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” drove me to feel the urge to direct when I was a teenager.

What does e-TALENTA mean to you personally – as a casting director and coach?

As a casting director I enjoy a lot the services you provide us with now, since I was struggling, trying to organise everything by myself and it was very time consuming.

As a coach I find it brilliant for the actors  to  just have an updated link to send, instead of sending a cv and headshots, that have to be updated all the time.

Do you sometimes look for actors outside Greece for your projects?

Mostly, even right now!

For our international casting directors: Why should they take a look at Greek actors on e-TALENTA?

I am an international casting director myself so, here is how i feel about greek actors: they are highly skilled and well – trained, they usually speak 2 or more languages, which is extremely uncommon in the mediterranean region and also have a great diversity in their appearence as a population.

Apart from that, they are constantly visiting or working in all the ancient theatres and holy venues of Drama which keeps them highly connected!

What are your tips for Greek actors to get more attention and be found nationally and internationally?
